Strength & Durability
The photo on the left shows Zeus, a Fjord breed, who weighs about 1400 lbs., standing on a Mike's Box. In reality, the box can hold over 50,000 lbs. distributed evenly across its face. This box cannot be crushed by a horse when mounted on the front of the stall.
Mike's Boxes are made of food grade 201 stainless steel, the same stainless steel used in restaurant kitchens, wineries, breweries and in the manufacturing of processed foods. It is designed to withstand the corrosive effects of food acids, cleaning chemicals and disinfectants. It is also inert in that it does not contaminate the food or liquid it is holding.
Each box will last a lifetime with very little care. When cleaning is necessary, it can be wiped with a damp cloth.
While you should use care when using a harsh cleaning agent so as not to introduce cleaning solvent residue which could contaminate your feed or treats, you will not damage the stainless steel. If such cleaning agents are used, the box should be rinsed thoroughly before it is used to store feed, supplements or treats.
